Dog
SHOW: Saturday, July 8, 9:00 a.m.
SUPERINTENDENT: Carol Reinhart
All 4-H Dog Project members are encouraged to compete at the County 4-H Dog Show on July 8th. Participation in the training classes is not required to be judged at the County 4-H Dog Show, except in the area of agility. ALL participants must register for each event they wish to compete in at the County 4-H Dog Show on their 4-H County Fair Registration form; registering for the training class DOES NOT automatically register you for the county fair show. Failure to register can result in loss of eligibility for premiums and State Dog Show trips. A dog ID form must be completed with up to date vaccinations in order to participate in the dog show.

Eligibility
All participants must have completed 3rd grade, but not have graduated from 4-H.
A 4-H member may enter a maximum of two dogs in a maximum total of eleven (11) classes (two regular Agility classes, two Jumpers Agility classes, two regular Obedience classes, Brace Obedience, Four Dog Team Obedience, two rally Obedience classes, and one Showmanship class).
Must achieve ribbon placings at county show as follows:
All blue ribbon winners are eligible to enter the State 4-H Dog Show in the classes where they earned their blue ribbon at the county qualifying show. A 4-H’er who earns a white ribbon at the county show level may NOT advance to the State 4-H Dog Show in the class where they earned the white ribbon.
AGILITY
To advance to the State 4-H Dog Show in Agility, 4-H members must earn a blue ribbon in Agility at their county show. A 4-H’er who earns a red ribbon at the county show level may NOT advance to the State 4-H Dog Show in the class where they earned the red ribbon.
OBEDIENCE
If no blue ribbons are awarded in a class at the county level, the top two placing red ribbons of that class may represent that class at the State 4-H Dog Show. If there is only one blue ribbon and then red and white ribbons awarded, only the 4-H’er earning the blue ribbon advances to the State 4-H Dog Show.
If a 4-H member chooses to advance from the county to the State 4-H Dog Show on a red ribbon, that 4-H member may repeat the class in 2024 if they do not earn a blue ribbon in the class at the 2023 State 4-H Dog Show.
Four Dog Team - Each county may advance two Four Dog Teams to the State 4-H Dog Show if the teams both received blue ribbons. In the event no team earns a blue ribbon according to the point system, the highest scoring red ribbon team may represent the county at the State 4-H Dog Show. Each member of the Four Dog Team registers for the Four Dog Team class on their individual State 4-H Dog Show Member Entry Form.
SHOWMANSHIP
In the event that no blue ribbons are awarded in a class at the county level, the top two placing red ribbons of that class may represent that class at the State 4-H Dog Show.
In the event a 4-H member chooses to advance from the county to the State 4-H Dog Show on a red ribbon in the Novice Class, that 4-H member forfeits the right to remain in the class “until receiving a blue ribbon at the county show level” and must advance to the Open Class the following year.
RALLY
If no blue ribbons are awarded in a class at the county level, the top two placing red ribbons of that class may represent that class at the State 4-H Dog Show. If there is only one blue ribbon and then red and white ribbons awarded, only the 4-H’er earning the blue ribbon advances to the State 4-H Dog Show.
