Alexis Aulepp is a Communication Studies major, a book-lover, a night owl, a people pleaser, a “mom friend,” and a writer. Some of her interests include poetry, photography, dad jokes, her faith, good food, cute dogs, and random acts of kindness.
Her favorite place to be is inside her own head, and her least favorite place to be is inside her own head (or the gym – that place is a nightmare). She writes (in part) because she likes to spend a lot of time in her favorite place. She keeps writing (in part) because her least favorite place gets dark sometimes, and written words often provide the illumination she needs.
Alexis Aulepp grew up in Northville, MI, with her mother, father, and younger brother, as well as their Yellow English Labrador Retriever, Cody. She began writing at a young age, composing her own “books” by 1st Grade (or before). Her first published work was a short poem that was published in the 2007 National Anthology of Poetry by Young Americanswhen she was in 3rd Grade. Since then, her work has been published in several literary magazines, journals, and anthologies, and she hopes it will be published many more places in the future.
Ms. Aulepp’s love for writing grew from a mutual love of reading and creating. While she has been enjoying both from a young age, her first “aha” moment of wanting to be a writer can be traced back to 5th Grade reading time. During one of these daily reading periods, she haphazardly decided to start the Harry Potter series with the third book (under what would later be deemed the ludicrous assumption that it was fine because she had seen the first two movies), and immediately fell deeply in love with the power of the written word.
As of the present day, Ms. Aulepp has planned and/or begun approximately eight books (two related trilogies, the first book of an unrelated series, and one stand-alone-novel [which is the novel featured on this website: It’s Pronounced “Pegasus”]). She continues to write both poetry and fiction – as well as numerous pieces of other genres, such as journal entry or blog – and hopes that life both in and beyond graduation from college will provide many opportunities to express herself through the written word.
