Primary Recruitment
IMPORTANT TERMS:
PNM = Potential New Member, RC = Recruitment Counselor
What is primary recruitment?
Primary Recruitment is a structured mutual selection process that allows a Potential New Member (PNM) to explore all of our Panhellenic chapters.
When is primary recruitment?
Primary Recruitment is held at the beginning of the Winter Semester. Check the individual tabs for each round for specific dates.
Do I have to register?
Yes, all students must register by the deadline in order to participate. You do not need to register to attend the Panhellenic Preview, it is simply to gather information before making a decision.
How do I register?
Visit the FSL site and navigate to the "Join Us" page (also linked here) for detailed steps and instructions. You must have completed all steps, verified your eligibility, and paid the registration fee by JANUARY 2ND AT 1:00 PM EST in order to participate (register by DECEMBER 16TH at 1:00 PM EST for guaranteed shirt availability).
Do I need a recommendation?
Recommendations are not required for sorority recruitment. Instructions on how to submit a recommendation can be found on each organization's inter/national website as many organizations have adapted to an online format. Please follow the organization-specific instructions. If directed to mail to the chapter, addresses can be found on our contact list. If a family member or friend offers to write a recommendation, direct them to the instructions. Recommendations should arrive at the chapter prior to the beginning of Primary Recruitment.
How is legacy information submitted?
The local Panhellenic Association does not collect legacy information. Alumnae should contact their respective inter/national organization for the proper procedure to submit legacy information to this specific chapter.
How do I know where to go?
Panhellenic Primary Recruitment 2026 will take place partially over Zoom and in person. You will receive instructions prior to the start of recruitment about how to log-in. Please note that you will need to use your University of Michigan Zoom account to participate. We encourage you to make sure your computer/tablet/phone is up to date prior to the start of recruitment and that you are comfortable with logging in.
How do I register a conflict?
After Invitation Rankings for the prior round, there will be a designated location to register conflicts. Although not fully guaranteed, this will give you a better chance of not having a scheduled party during your conflict and, if one is scheduled, you will be excused from that party. If you find out you have a conflict after the final Invitation Ranking of the party, you must still submit it by calling the Fraternity and Sorority Life office at 734-936-3686.
What should I do if I can't attend in-person Orientation?
Please discuss any orientation conflicts ASAP with your recruitment counselor during the Saturday, January 3rd phone calls.
What do I do about lunch during recruitment?
Each round that runs all day (excludes Preference and rounds that begin in the evenings) will have an allotted hour for lunch. Panhel will not provide lunch.

What are the institutional eligibility requirements to participate in recruitment?

You may submit information to be reviewed. Please allow for 2 business days for a response requesting additional information. Click here for the Recruitment and Intake Institutional Eligibility Appeal Form.
