We have 3 different cars that we are able to compete, so designing and testing each car requires different skillsets and interests.
We have subteams to organize work on the design of our cars, which are our combustion, battery/stopping, and pressure cars.
Check out the descriptions of each below!
The goal of the stopping team is to identify a reaction that data can readily, accurately, and repeatedly be extracted from. Once a reaction is chosen, stopping will collect data and create code to determine run times.
Matching Interests:
Chemistry, wet-lab work, reaction design
The goal of the pressure team is to design and construct a car that is powered by pressure built up from a chemical reaction.
Matching Interests:
Machine shop work, welding, hands-on work, reaction design
The goal of the battery team is to design and construct a battery from scratch that powers the battery/stopping car.
Matching Interests:
Sustainable energy, electrochemistry, wet-lab chemistry, reaction design
The goal of the chassis team is to help build the chassis for the battery, pressure car, and combustion cars including the wiring for the battery car.
Matching Interests:
Arduino, wiring, CAD, 3D printing
The goal of the combustion team is to design and construct a car that uses a combustion chemical reaction as its power source.
Matching Interests:
Machine shop work, welding, chemistry, hands-on work, reaction design
