Teaching / Mentoring

Graduate Student Instructor

At University of Michigan I was a GSI for two semesters. I led four lab sections of an introductory Astronomy class for undergraduate students. I also have been a grader for a class called Aliens, which focused on our current knowledge of the galaxy and its implications for the search for extraterrestrial life.

Tutoring

I was a physics tutor during my upper-level undergraduate years at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. I tutored other students from classes that varied from introductory physics and math courses, to senior courses such as quantum mechanics.

Mentoring

I have mentored undergraduate students working on both the ARMADA and MOPSS research projects that I am involved with at University of Michigan. These undergraduate projects have led to poster presentations, with paper publications planned for the near future.

I am involved in a mentor-mentee program started by undergraduate Astronomy students at University of Michigan. The undergraduate students are paired with a graduate mentor. We will often meet to discuss courses, advice for applying to graduate school, or to share experiences in navigating the world of academia.
