Outreach

Science Communication Fellow

I participated in a Science Communications program offered through the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History. This program involved workshops and hands-on demos on how to effectively present science to the general public. The museum hosts "scientist highlight" booths on weekends, where I talk about how to find exoplanets around distant stars.

My activities for these events focus on how a star and planet both orbit their center-of-mass. Visitors can see demos on how this causes a star to "wobble" due to an orbiting planet.

Michigan International Speedway Science Outreach

I am also involved with a rural outreach program started by my advisor John Monnier. Partnering with the Hands on Museum in Ann Arbor, we have set up science booths and demonstrations at giant events at the MI Speedway. We are currently working on crafting an astronomy booth which we will bring to each race.
