The Etruscan Tomb Survey is composed of multiple teams, but principally, a field team active during the summer and an architectural analyst team of graduate and advanced undergraduate students during the academic year.
During the academic year, our architectural analysts use these LiDAR scans to research and document the tombs.
The application of LiDAR allows for more detailed study and comparisons than on-site analysis can afford. Additionally, through 3D modeling, we can unpack the full architectural complexity of these tombs.
We are currently working towards a publication of the tombs at Cerveteri.
