Design and build a single-seater, all-terrain vehicle which is to be a prototype for a reliable, maintainable, ergonomic, and economic production vehicle. The vehicle should aspire to market-leading performance in terms of speed, handling, ride and ruggedness over rough terrain and off-road conditions
The initial phase of the project involved the design and modeling of the vehicle and integration of different subsystems using SolidWorks and ANSYS. The next phase of the project was all about fabricating the vehicle using the manufacturing process like machining, joining and rapid prototyping methods like 3D printing and laser cutting. The final phase of the project was testing the vehicle using DFMEA and DVP&R tools
Rollcage of the vehicle was designed and modeled in SolidWorks utilizing the Structural Member (Weldments) and Trim features. The design of the rollcage was based on structural, spatial and safety requirements
FEA was conducted using ANSYS to test the rigidity and strength of the rollcage under severe conditions. The vehicle rollcage was tested for different conditions of front impact, torsion and rollover to optimize the design for weight and factor of safety of the rollcage
Sanmit, as the team captain, led a team of 15 members into the SAE Baja national level racing competition and under his leadership, the team was ranked 40th among 160 plus teams. As the Design head, he was responsible for designing the roll cage of the vehicle and assisting other team members with design and integration of other subsystem components like brake discs, suspension A-arms, steering arm and tie-rods into the vehicle
