Sanmit Shah is a passionate Product Engineer with experience working within the Automotive industry. He has demonstrated success in designing and managing products from initial concepts to prototyping and releasing them through manufacturing to the market.
He holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from B.V.B College of Engineering and Technology (2018) and ME in Global Automotive and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Michigan. He has served as a Graduate Student Instructor at University of Michigan for two terms.
He has experience working with diverse cross-functional teams in various design engineering areas. He was part of Altair’s design process group working on the design story of their electric vehicle. He worked on the design compromises that arise due to the manufacturing tolerance and geometry design of the fan shroud by analysing the issues for root causes. Prior to that he worked as a Product Development Engineer at CFM Schiller, in-charge of leading projects to design and manufacture mechanical test systems for automotive components. In both these positions, he was responsible for the development of concepts into detailed designs based on voice of customer and conducting post-processing analysis to optimize these designs. He also participated in the SAE India Baja competition and, as captain, led his team effectively in designing and fabricating an All-Terrain vehicle. He has experience working on different CAD and FEA softwares in developing product architectures and utilizing DFMEA and DVP&R to test different subsystems of the vehicle.
Strengths include CAD and BOM management, physical prototype development, Design for Six Sigma and New Product Development tools like VoC, QFD and DFMEA.
