Distributed Cognition Story Map
Propose an improvement that would have made the functional unit more effective.
Description
One of the biggest breakdowns in this group project experience occurred because of communication barriers and the inability to standardize all aspects of the project. We propose a dashboard that allows actors to see all the tools in use. Furthermore, in this experience, the team members did not necessarily have specific roles. With the design we propose, each team member would have a specific role that is stated on the dashboard design to eliminate confusion about responsibilities within the team.

With the projects drop down menu, a user can see all the projects they are working on at once in order to better manage all the different group work they are participating in. This also eliminates the need to bounce between different tools and shared documents to help streamline the work process. Furthermore, the dashboard we designed lists the team members and their roles to promote a more structured functional unit organization where responsibilities are clearly outlined. Also, part of the dashboard displays upcoming deadlines, which further centralizes all the work that a user needs to know about so that they do not need to rely on an external calendar for assignment deadlines. We also included Unclaimed, In Progress, and Finished sections within the dashboard so users can track what they are currently working on, as well as see which members were assigned to different tasks and where they are at in that process.
