FACE-TO-FACE OBSERVATION PROCESS
The peer observation and coaching process guides faculty in continuous improvements. This confidential process emphasizes sharing ideas and experiences and culminates in a concise, written document shared only between the faculty and observer.
Steps for Initiating & Conducting a Face-to-face Course Observation
PRE-OBSERVATION
Course Instructor
Initiates a coaching session by completing the Observation Request Form. Instructors can choose their own coaching partnership, or TCLT will arrange the match.
Downloads the PEER OBSERVATION SELF-REVIEW F2F
Identifies 1 to 3 observation goals on reviewing or completing the review of the report's criteria.
Faculty Coach
Contacts the Course Instructor to schedule the pre-observation meeting to clarify observation goals and discuss the instructor’s plan for the day of the observation.
Note: The faculty coach may ask for the course syllabus before the observation.
OBSERVATION
Faculty Coach
Schedules the observation along with a follow-up meeting to gather information need to complete the Peer Observation Report F2F.
POST-OBSERVATION
Faculty Coach
Completes the Peer Observation Report F2F.
Debriefs the Course Instructor as to findings in the report.
Confirms completion on the
Peer Observation Completion Form: FACULTY COACH
Course Instructor
Seeks clarification and Advice.
Develops an action plan.
Confirms completion on the
Peer Observation Completion Form: INSTRUCTOR.
