ABOUT US
ABOUT US
The Michigan Pre-Law Society is an undergraduate student organization at the University of Michigan aimed at fostering an interest in and understanding of the legal field. We equip our members with the necessary resources they need to enter and succeed in a career in law through a variety of programs, including: mentorship programs, professional development meetings, Q&A panels, LSAT prep, and more.
MPLS also focuses on building a pre-professional community on campus. Through our meetings and social events, we bring together students with a common interest in law to share ideas, experiences, tools, and knowledge. We champion diversity, inclusion, and collaboration in everything we do.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
MPLS has meetings every other Tuesday at 7 PM. While attendance is taken at meetings and regular attendance is required for members, we have opportunities to make up missed meetings. MPLS also offers a variety of optional social events and the opportunity for one-on-one coffee chats.
WHY NOT A PRE-LAW FRATERNITY?
MPLS offers more flexibility than traditional Pre-Law fraternities. With a lower time commitment and a streamlined application process, MPLS provides a less intensive but equally engaging Pre-Law community.Â
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
Applications to join open at the beginning of each semester, and links will be posted on our website, Linktree, and Instagram. Attend our mass meeting on Tuesday, September 3rd at 7 PM in 1225 Jeffries Hall for more information.
DO I NEED LAW EXPERIENCE?
While MPLS receives a wealth of applications each semester and has a limited capacity, we encourage students from all backgrounds to apply. MPLS prides itself on being an inclusive space for members with a diverse range of ideas and experiences, and the only requirement for entry is a genuine interest in learning about the field of law.
