In order to register and vote in federal elections, you must be 18 by Election Day, a U.S. citizen, and have established residency where you are registering and voting.
In Michigan, that means you've lived at your voter registration address for 30 days by the day of the election.
In some states, criminal history might determine if you are eligible to vote. Check your state's policy.

Yes! To register in person at the Clerk's office, you need an official photo ID (such as your MCard) and either a Michigan Driver’s License (or State ID) OR the last four digits of your Social Security Number. However, to register online, a Michigan ID is required and an MCard won't count.
You must re-register if you move, change your name, or if your signature has changed.
If you are voting in person in Michigan, all you need to vote is a photo ID (your MCard works) and proof of residency!
