We operate on a block schedule; each residency year consists of 13 four-week blocks with each resident given 4 weeks of vacation per year.
HO-I
Inpatient Pediatrics (5.5 blocks) - Inpatient rotations include either two-week or four-week blocks on general and subspecialty teams. Subspecialty inpatient services include cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, pulmonology
Newborn and Delivery Room (1 block)
Pediatric Emergency Department (1 block)- Two two-week blocks.
Night Team (1 block)- Two two-week blocks. Teams of 1 senior and 1 intern. Admit patients and cross cover general and subspecialty inpatient services.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (1 block): interns do a stretch of six nights
Anesthesia and Surgical Clinics, ASC (1 block) - An outpatient rotation through the general and subspecialty surgical clinics in addition to a one week pediatric anesthesia experience practicing procedural skills.
Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (1 block)
Professional Development Week/Continuity Week (0.5 block) - Interns spend a dedicated week in their assigned continuity clinic week. Interns also have a week for professional development including personal appointments, nurse shadowing, creating a chalk talk, and completing administrative tasks.
Vacation (1 block) - Interns will be allotted 4 weeks of vacation divided into two 2 week vacations throughout the year
HO-II
Inpatient Senior Resident (3 block) - Senioring opportunities include general inpatient teams, sub-specialty inpatient teams and at least 6 weeks of PHO
Night Team (0.5 block) - Senioring
Pediatric Emergency Department (1 block)
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (1 block) – Senioring, q4d call for seniors
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (1 block) – no call, 4-5 nights
Outpatient Adolescent Medicine (1 block)
Pediatric Community Health and Advocacy (1 block) – ancillary services in the community (ex. Lactation Specialists, Pediatric Dentists, Early On, Advocacy Day, etc.)
Electives (4 blocks): Protected Time – 3 Friday night coverages, examples include: PCTU, ID, Child Psychiatry, Hospital Administration, Medical Education, Hematology Summer Camp, Away Electives (China, Ecuador, Botswana, Uganda, Alaska, Ethiopia)
Vacation (1 block) - Residents will have an assigned two-week block vacation and can choose two 1 week vacations during elective time.

6:15 AM: Arrive, sign-out, available to take new admissions
8:00-8:30 AM: Morning Conference (Case Conferences, Friday Morning Report, Grand Rounds on Tuesdays)
8:30 AM: Start rounds
11:30 AM: End rounds
12:00 PM: Noon Conference (Didactic Lecture, HO Admin, On-service lunch, Journal Club, Procedure Lab)
3:00 PM: Non-Call residents sign-out
6:00 PM: Sign out to Night Team
