I joined MAAV during my first semester at UM (Winter22) and my experiences at MAAV have been one of the highlights of my undergraduate career thus far. I have had so much fun applying the boring coursework from my EECS classes to a small electronic board attached to a few motors and watching it fly (autonomously, in fact).
I was tasked with trying to use computer vision to sort of color mask and filter out the communication mast from the surroundings. The image on the left is the first version of the program I made, and the screenshot on the right shows the revised program detecting the same communication mast in the same environment.

This ongoing experience relates to my time in honors as I hope to use the skills I develop in the Honors community that is harder to do in the traditional classes I take and use them to further progress my team's productivity and relationships with one another. I also would like to use my technical skills in Honors with the capstone project and any other research opportunities that may present themselves.
