IHI Open School (IHI OS) is an inter-professional educational community that gives students the skills to become change agents in healthcare improvement. This is a global learning community of chapters with opportunities to connect with like-minded students, faculty, and professionals around the world. There are IHI OS chapters all over the world, including the UM Chapter.
The values of the IHI OS - UM Chapter are aligned with the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) goals to improve health worldwide by helping to accelerate measurable and continuous progress in healthcare. IHI is an independent not-for-profit organization founded in 1991 in Cambridge, Massachusetts by Dr. Don Berwick, MD, future Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. IHI provides training for health professionals to put ideas into action, and partners with health care facilities, systems, and governments to innovate and achieve improved quality and safety.
