Students are expected to complete the summer learning cycle project during the summer between the first and second year of the HILS program.
The project proposal s completed as part of LHS 621 Implementation Science in Health 1 in fall term. During the following winter term, you establish the groundwork for the project to enable completion during the summer. Students evaluate and reflect on their projects in LHS 721 Implementation Science in Health 2 during the fall term of their second year.
The project focuses on implementing evidence based practice in a clinical or community health setting. Policy implementation, which is often more complex than practice implementation, is a possible focus, but will require even more pre-planning and discussion. The topic must be approved by your advisor and the LHS 621 faculty (Sales and Piatt). Ideally, the project topic will be closely related to student research interests, and project completion should be relevant and support progress towards dissertation. Please note that this requires considerable coordination and planning, and students should discuss their plans with their advisors, as well as the LHS 621 faculty.
