Great Lakes Cover Crops Project
Improving cover crop performance with community science
Project overview
This collaborative project brings together farmers, researchers, and conservation professionals from across the upper Midwest to build a regional database of cover crop performance. Participating farmers receive personalized reports with cover crop data for their fields, and our crowdsourcing approach allows us to identify what types of practices work best across different farming conditions.
Check out our four main objectives below:
Objective 1
Partner with farmers to measure cover crop performance on farm fields across the Great Lakes region.
Objective 2
Uncover relationships between environmental conditions, management practices, and cover crop performance.
Objective 3
Develop practical recommendations for improving cover crop performance across different conditions and contexts.
Objective 4
Facilitate learning networks through field days, webinars, and online resources.
