Study Locations

Managua, Nicaragua

We have several completed and ongoing studies of respiratory viruses and arboviruses in Nicaragua. These include long-running pediatric studies and household transmission studies.

Our studies are conducted in District II of Managua, Nicaragua, at the Health Center Sócrates Flores Vivas (HCSFV). Molecular and serological testing for influenza is performed at the National Virology Laboratory (NVL) of the Centro Nacional de Diagnóstico y Referencia (CNDR), which is a WHO National Influenza Center. Both the CNDR and the HCSFV are part of the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health.

IMMUNITY ASSOCIATED WITH SARS-COV-2 STUDY (IASO)

IASO, THE GREEK GODDESS OF RECUPERATION FROM ILLNESS

The IASO study aims to investigate the strength and duration of protection given by SARS-CoV-2 natural infection and vaccination in health care workers and employees around the University of Michigan. Together, we will better understand immunological risk factors for infection, outcomes, and examine immune response to infection across the disease spectrum.
