Housed within the Center for Academic Innovation, Gamut aims to enhance, elevate, and extend the development, delivery, and overall experience of Academic Innovation initiatives, particularly in the online learning space.
Our work can take many forms, such as consulting with online learning instructional staff, researching existing technical solutions for online learning-related challenges, and development new educational tools for use in online learning environments.
Members of our team (below) are regularly available to meet with Center for Academic Innovation staff, as well as staff/instructors from around The University, to discuss possible uses of our existing tools, ideas for new tools, or challenges related to online learning in need of a technical solution. Possible outcomes of these consultations include integrating one or more of our tools into your online or residential course, starting the process for creating a new tool, or suggestions for alternative solutions from elsewhere in the ed tech landscape.
The Online Tools Team recognizes that there are already many other great educational technology tools out there that might meet your needs, and we're happy to help you find them! After learning more about your course, the challenges you're facing, any previous solutions you've tried, and the learning experience you're hoping to create, we are glad to conduct our own research into what tools might already exist that could be a good fit for your, and report back on what we find.
In addition to the work above, we also regularly produce new educational tools for use in online courses. These new tools are selected based on the following criteria:
Impact - If a tool has the potential for broader impact (e.g., it has relevance beyond a single course's use case)
Scope - If a tool's necessary features are of small to medium lift for the bandwidth of our team.
Feasibility - If a the technical requirements and deadline for when a tool is needed by are reasonable.
