Explanation of Levels

Level 1 equipment can be checked out by anyone officially taking classes or teaching/working in a non-temporary capacity at the University of Michigan during the current semester.

Level 2 equipment can be checked out by LSA & CoE students, faculty, non-temporary staff, or anyone currently taking or teaching an LSA or CoE class. Approximately 80% of the equipment in our collection is at Level 2.

Level 3 equipment can be checked out by LSA & CoE students, faculty, and non-temporary staff; or anyone currently taking or teaching an LSA or CoE class once the patron has completed the orientation for that equipment.

Resources that are restricted for one of two reasons:

1. It was purchased for a specific class to use

2. Use of it requires coordination between LSATS Loan and other sections of our or other departments.

We are unable to do on-the-spot checkouts or in-person reservations for Level Four pieces of equipment - you must make a special request via email at LSATechnologyServices@umich.edu.
