DECISION 1: SEASON TICKET OFFERING
DECISION 1: SEASON TICKET OFFERING
It is the first of June, 2022. Real Madrid are fresh off a historic 2021-2022 season, in which they completed another domestic and European double that further enhanced the club's record in both competitions. Celebrations are running wild, but preparations for next season, due to start in late August, have begun. One of the first business matters on the club's agenda is season ticket offering. In that regard, the club faces a dilemma.
Real Madrid, like any sporting institution, has a home, and that home is the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Named after the club's greatest ever president, the Bernabeu, as it is known to Madridistas, has born witness to many a historic triumph. As part of the "Nuevo Bernabeu" initiative, a large-scale project aimed at transforming the Bernabeu into a global hub for sports and entertainment, the Bernabeu has been under construction since late 2021. Under normal circumstances, the Bernabeu has a capacity of 80,000 seats, 60,000 of which Real Madrid reserves for season ticket holders to bolster its Spanish identity. Due to the ongoing renovations, a section of the stadium comprising 20,000 seats reserved for season tickets is currently closed. Expectations at the club had been high that construction would be done before next season, but latest news from the construction company have elicited doubts in management's minds regarding potential delays. The club must now decide how many tickets to offer knowing that any unfulfilled tickets will have to be refunded.
