CCERO's educational vision places experiential learning at the center of cybersecurity education.
Students should not only understand cybersecurity principles—they should have opportunities to apply them in realistic, reproducible environments.
CCERO is developing reusable laboratory environments initially focused on:
Automotive Security
AI for Cybersecurity
Security & Safety of AI
IoT Security
Critical Infrastructure Security
The long-term target is a portfolio of 10+ reproducible laboratory environments that can support courses, workshops, student activities, and professional education.
CCERO supports hands-on cybersecurity competitions in which students develop practical skills in areas such as system security, network security, web security, reverse engineering, digital forensics, and related challenges.
The five-year plan calls for campus-wide CTF activities to evolve toward a regional competition.
CCERO supports the Women in Cybersecurity (WiCys) UM-Dearborn Chapter and the Cybersecurity Association at UM–Dearborn, as a venue for extracurricular CTFs, hands-on tutorials, technical learning, professional development, and cybersecurity awareness outreach.
CCERO plans to develop stackable professional learning opportunities leveraging UM–Dearborn expertise in:
Automotive Cybersecurity
AI for Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity of AI
Critical Infrastructure Security
IoT Security
