How firm capabilities influence the dynamics of corporate scope and the evolution of industries
Pre-tenure work
To unpack the relationships among the intertwining theoretical constructs in the above research portfolio, my work seeks to maximize methodological rigor by using both formal modeling and econometric analyses (see the table below for a summary). When I start a research project, I often use a formal model (either an analytical or a computational one) to develop a structured understanding of the subjects of interest. Such a model in turn guides me in collecting appropriate datasets and specifying empirical analyses to test the implications derived from the formal model. This approach has enabled me to not only theorize about complex strategic issues, but also keep improving my understanding of these issues by contrasting theory with data. As I believe appropriate for any particular paper, I may use only formal modeling, only econometric analyses, or both methods in the same paper.Â
