The Environmental Toxicology and Epidemiology Training Grant Program Presents:

Toxic Truths: Unmasking the Chemicals in Consumer Products

The 29th Annual Environmental Health Sciences Research Symposium

Auditorium SPH I 1755, check-in @ SPH I front lobby

Friday, March 22nd, 2024, 9am - 4pm

The first 100 registrants will receive free lunch catered by Chipotle.

Registration is free.

Keynote Speakers

Chief, California Safe Cosmetics Program @ California Department of Public Health

Research Scientist, Toxicology & Carcinogenicity @ the Silent Spring Institute

Senior Vice President, Healthy Living Science, Consumer Safety Science @ The Environmental Working Group (EWG)

The goal of the symposium is to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and public awareness of potentially harmful toxic chemicals in consumer and personal care products. Attendees will gain an understanding of their relative toxicity and the potential risks associated with exposure. Conversations will touch on racial disparities in disease resulting from cosmetics, useful tools and strategies to make informed consumer decisions, and mechanisms of toxicity in consumer products.

The organizers envision a dynamic event, blending academic rigor with accessibility. The symposium will provide a platform for engaging discussions through Q&A sessions, drawing from the diverse perspectives of both the general audience and the distinguished keynote speakers. Faculty and staff will also contribute to the dialogue, fostering an inclusive environment that encourages collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
