May 2023 Symposium at University of Maryland, USA

U21HREx held it’s first research symposium at the University of Maryland School Health where faculty members and students from UMD, UoB, and UCD spent one week discussing global healthcare challenges, swapping experiences, sharing research, and touring the University of Maryland and University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. During the symposium, leaders also laid the groundwork for joint academic initiatives between the University of Maryland and University of Birmingham and comparative health systems projects to improve the performance and quality of healthcare care in Maryland, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

September 2023 Symposium at University of Birmingham, UK

U21HREx held its second research symposium at the University of Birmingham, UK where once more faculty members and students from UMD, UoB, and UCD spent a week discussing global healthcare issues, sharing professional development experiences and research, toured UoB. They also met with UoB leaders and health system leadership of one of the largest teaching hospitals and General Practitioner partnerships in the UK, Queen Elizabeth Hospital (NHS University Hospitals Birmingham) and Our Health Partnership to continue developing academic and health system partnerships to address the grand challenges of out time.
