Burra investigates how public charging infrastructure impacts plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) adoption. Using a decade of household survey data and econometric models, Burra evaluates the influence of Level 2 and Level 3 chargers on consumer behavior, especially in low-income and rural demographics. He finds that while Level 3 chargers have a stronger positive effect on PEV adoption, their benefits diminish with increasing distance from residential areas. His work also identifies disparities in charging infrastructure accessibility, with high-income and urban areas benefiting disproportionately. These insights inform ongoing policy initiatives like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill and the Inflation Reduction Act, ensuring that investments in EV infrastructure promote equitable adoption and address regional disparities.
