About SQEIP
SQEIP is an intensive hands-on training program for undergraduate students in science & engineering; a collaborative effort between the University of Maryland (UMD) and the Winston-Salem Quantum Institute (WSQI). The program includes 8 weeks of hands-on training in the state-of-the-art research facilities at the Laboratory for Physical Science (LPS) and UMD that includes topics such as:
Vacuum Technology and Thin film materials growth
Design, fabrication, and packaging of quantum devices
Cryogenic technologies and electronic measurements;
Foundations of electrical measurements for quantum circuits including RF electronics.
The application system for the summer of 2024 will be open from Jan. 25, 2024. Participants will receive a stipend for the duration of the program. Additional travel grants will be made available to the participants for presenting at select local/national conferences following the completion of the program.
