Our research centers around the lack of representation Muslim women have in STEM.
While there is more research on encouraging women of color to persist in STEM, their experiences are often homogenized in the literature, ignoring the challenge of intersectional identities. This results in distinctive voices not being heard, hindering effective improvement for provided services and accommodations. A unique example is the voices of Muslim women in STEM in the West, which this study aims to amplify through PAR. The underrepresentation - or even, misrepresentation - has been emphasized by our curated bibliographies and personal experiences.

Furthermore, our project demonstrates the power of using our unique voices to authentically represent our own community of Muslim women studying STEM in the West. This aligns with the mission of RWE of celebrating the empowerment of women and girls in educational research: and our project's overarching goal is to empower Muslim women and girls in STEM by raising awareness through our research. Presenting this project at a large-scale conference will aid in representing underrepresented women, and will also inspire women similar to us to raise a voice for their peers - women and girls of any background.

We presented our paper on a group autoethnography titled "Sisters in STEM: The Empowerment of Muslim Women in Education Through Participatory Action Research" for the Equity and Empowerment in Neoliberal Society SIG. It was an amazing experience meeting so many scholars, including ones we've been citing in our own research!
