A Magical Performance

When the Innovation Studio team brought up the idea of changing the color of the lights, this bass duo enthusiastically “yes, and-ed” the idea. They shared that the piece they were planning to perform consisted of seven short pieces, which didn’t necessarily have to be played “in order.” They wondered: “what if we let the audience choose the order?” and paired colors with the emotions they felt each movement evoked.

The performance was designed to tell an interactive story.  Audience members were asked to select a card which indicated which potion the dungeon master would give the musicians. As they drank the potion, the color of the lights would change and the musicians would play the piece that's mood corresponded with that color.
