Online Museum (10/26/25, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History- D.C. Bird 1)

The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History's D.C. Birds 1 online exhibition walkthrough was a cool experience that was both educational and exciting. The walkthrough showed how science and art can work together to help people appreciate what nature brings to society. The exhibit features a variety of birds that are seen in Washington, D.C. Each one stands out due to its distinct colors, patterns, and characteristics. Being an online exhibition, I was able to explore with plenty of time and see the birds up close. This was new to me because I might not have seen the details as well in person had it not been online. The exhibit's ability to make me consider the amount of attention to detail and care that goes into researching and conserving species was what I enjoyed the most. It made me think about how art may help us see nature as something valuable to preserve rather than just as a backdrop. Because it demonstrated how creativity can raise awareness of pressing issues in the real world, I was able to relate this to what I had studied in Arts Scholars. Especially as we get ready to explore our capstone projects, it was cool to see an exhibition that clearly displayed its passion and purpose. I was inspired by this encounter to appreciate nature more and consider how art is important to help people see the beauty of our world.
Podcast (10/26/25, Lessons on Creativity with Rick Rubin)
#literature #creativity #speech
This podcast emphasizes the importance of self-acceptance of one's art. The focus of great art should not be to please other people's opinions; it should be to please yourself in what you created. When creating art, be yourself and do not change anything for the acceptance of others. Rick is using a podcast to really convey his message to people by using the best method of communication, which is speech. By using a podcast as a medium for his message, he clearly states the importance of authenticity, devotion, evolution, and internal validation when it comes to creative art. He is very inspiring and easy to listen to on the podcast. Speech can be the best medium to understand a message directly without any interpretations. Rick speaks in a serious but soothing manner, drawing the listener in to pay attention and learn from his wisdom. I am rarely intrigued by podcasts, but this one was an exception. I can connect this with Arts scholars because a lot of the time, I am more focused on what others may think about my artwork rather than finding personal fulfillment in it. If I allow myself to be more intentional about what I want to express in my artwork, rather than thinking too much about how others may view my artwork, I think that creating art would be more enjoyable.
Online Exhibition (10/25/25, National Museum of ASIAN ART- The Peacock Room)

The online Peacock Room exhibition was incredibly beautiful. It showed how art can be presented in so many different angles, shapes, and sizes. It also made me realize that art can be meaningful without the use of any words. The Peacock Room was supposed to be a dining room in the beginning, but the artist's creativity made the entire space so much more lively. Not only are the walls full of gold and blue accents, but the way the art was designed was very unique to the artist. The various vases also showed the creativity of the artist, and it made me question- what was his motive for every single vase that was put on the shelves? The artist used color and a particular way of design in order to express his ideas of what he believed meant beauty and confidence. This artistic medium of creating it into an online exhibition was amazing because it allowed me to take my time and really examine the artwork. The way the exhibition was formatted was in a walkthrough design, and it made me feel like I was actually in the room. What was cool was that I could zoom in and focus on the specific patterns and textures on the walls. It made me realize that there are many layers to artwork.
