Spring Semester. Six Weeks in the Summer. One International Internship. A New Perspective.
Global Internship+ gives students the opportunity to live, work, and learn in Bangkok, Thailand while gaining hands-on international internship experience.
The experience begins in the spring at UMD, where students prepare for their time abroad through HGLO295: Cross-Cultural Communication in the Global Workplace. In the summer, students travel to Bangkok for six weeks, where they spend Monday through Thursday at their internship and Fridays learning, reflecting, and developing their professional skills with the Global Internship+ cohort.
Along the way, students will have opportunities to experience Bangkok and Thailand through cultural excursions, group activities, local food, and time to explore independently.

Your Global Internship+ experience begins before you board the plane.
During the spring semester, students enroll in HGLO295, a preparatory course focused on cross-cultural communication and working in a global environment. You will begin thinking about what it means to work across cultures, prepare for your internship, and develop the skills you will need to make the most of your experience abroad.
SPRING 2027
HGLO295 meets Fridays from 12:00–4:00 p.m., beginning March 26, 2027.
Then, it's time to head to Thailand.

Arrive. Settle In. Explore. Get settled in Bangkok, learn how to navigate your new neighborhood, experience some of Bangkok's most iconic sites, and meet your cohort over a welcome dinner.
