Fashion Against the Current is an ocean and environmental themed series that directly connects textile waste with environmental degradation. Using hand-sewn marine imagery on thrifted clothing, these pieces draw attention to the 92 million tons of textile waste polluting our oceans and landfills every year. Each upcycled shirt transforms discarded fabric into a statement piece that reminds the audience of the beauty we risk losing. Paired with an urgent marketing campaign, the work challenges viewers to reflect on their wardrobes impact. Furthermore, it encourages more mindful, sustainable fashion choices to help protect our planet’s waters and future.
