Overall, this project followed a creative process that I was very familiar with, which I’ve used in previous projects of this case. I first started with rapid ideation to come up with the metaphors I wanted my stories to follow and the historical contexts from which they would be told. From that point, I “killed my darlings” and decided on the six narratives that had the strongest foundations. Finally, I moved on with my standard writing process, through which I drafted and completed the 6 pieces in the order I had designated in my overall capstone work plan.
From this, I learned quite a bit about the creative process and how I tend to approach it when working on a big project. I particularly found the series on project management helpful on how to streamline my workflow, whether it be through learning about the significance of streamlining my project itself (Dietz, 2019) or through practicing mindfulness techniques, I was able to move myself through my project with a very sustainable mindset, which was reflective of how I want to address the creative process moving forward.
