Mapping the Invisible

Mapping the Invisible uses information provided by women across the University of Maryland campus to create an abstract map representing the areas that women feel safe and unsafe in and around campus. This work is inspired by artist Mark Bradford who layers mixed mediums to uncover emotions. Some mediums used in this piece are paper mache, chipboard, paper towels, acrylic paint, and construction paper. These add depth to the piece, articulating the complex and deep feelings women experience regarding their safety every day.
