In class, we talked about many strategies to stay on track with our project and how to manage it alongside our other responsibilities. One lesson that helped me a lot was about time management. I have always been a procrastinator. Throughout middle and high school I would do things last minute, and every time I pulled it off it would just reinforce the idea that it was okay for me to procrastinate. College is different, and while over the last two years I have gotten better there is still room for improvement. With this project being so big and long-form it was very important I not procrastinate otherwise the final curation would not live up to what I and others expected. The time management tips, such as setting specific benchmarks for each week and setting specific times that I would work on the project, helped me stay on track so I could finish the project on time and how I wanted.
I have crocheted since middle school. I have made blankets and hats and stuffed toys. I have nearly ten years of experience, but in all that time I have rarely attempted to make something from no pattern. All of the squares in my blanket are original designs. Creating them was fun, it allowed me to draw on my knowledge and put it together in new ways.
