Bee on the Earth in a Hand
Urbanization is the process of an area being populated by a greater amount of people generally leading to the development of towns and cities from rural areas. For bees and wasps, this often means the destruction of natural resources including flowers, which are important as a food source.

As more people move to big cities, more land needs to be dedicated for urban and suburban housing. The destruction of natural habitats leads to a decline in population size and species diversity of flowering plant populations and in turn decreases the population size and variation of pollinators.
Pollinators
Pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, and wasps, are crucial to our food systems and biodiversity, supporting the growth of many crops and wild plants. However, they face threats from habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change. Educating the public about the importance of pollinators and simple actions—like planting pollinator-friendly plants and reducing pesticide use—can help protect these vital creatures and ensure a sustainable future for food and ecosystems.
