Hi! I'm Aubrey, a sociologist and criminologist who investigates how economic, political, and gender stratified contexts influence wellbeing, especially among women. My work includes quantitative and qualitative research methods, academic writing and publishing, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and teaching courses in sociology and criminology at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

I graduated from Rice University in 2005 with a BA in Psychology before earning my PhD in sociology from The Ohio State University in 2013. I then moved across the country for a faculty position at the University of New Mexico.

I joined UMBC in 2019 and currently am the Associate Director of the Center for Social Science Scholarships and Associate Professor of Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Gender, Women's, + Sexualities Studies.
