Aubrey Jackson Soller, PhD
Associate Professor
University of Maryland, Baltimore County

Hi! I'm Professor Aubrey. I'm a sociologist who investigates how economic, political, and gender stratified contexts influence wellbeing, especially among women. My work includes quantitative and qualitative research methods, academic writing and publishing, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and teaching courses in sociology and criminology at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

I graduated from Rice University in 2005 with a BA in Psychology before earning my PhD in sociology from The Ohio State University in 2013. I then moved across the country for a faculty position at the University of New Mexico.

I joined UMBC in 2019 and currently am an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health. I also hold affiliate appointments in the School of Public Policy and the Language, Literacy, and Culture program.

I am an active member of the American Sociological Association and the American Society of Criminology.

I'm a parent of three young kids and enjoy reading fiction (currently, murder mysteries), aerial arts, and spending time with the family and our poodle, Bingo.
