Organizational Culture and Disaster Response

About Me

My name is Davis Cappabianca. I am a United States Navy veteran and graduate of University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). As a member of the Interdisciplinary Studies Department, I set out to design a degree that prepared me for medical school while also capitalizing on the experience I gained while serving in Navy and civilian pre-hospital healthcare systems.

Being a member of the U.S. Navy's medical team as well as an Emergency Medical Technician, I had the opportunity to treat patients around the world and interact with providers from countless different countries and organizations. These interactions coupled with my 12 years in civilian emergency medicine has allowed me to personally witness how agencies interact with each other during disaster relief operations.

The purpose of my degree is to provide me with the knowledge and skills required to return to Naval service as a Medical Officer and agent of change in coordinated disaster relief operations.
