EWRAP stands for Electronic WRiting Assessment Portfolio. This portfolio is the best way to satisfy the Writing Proficiency Requirement. Only intermediate seminar students can participate. Your portfolio will be submitted via Canvas and should include 3-4 documents:
A 1250+ word paper from your Intermediate Seminar
A 750+ word paper from any UMB course (ENGL 102 recommended if you took the course at UMass Boston; a second paper from your Intermediate Seminar is also OK)
Another 750+ word paper from any UMB course (preferably from a different discipline than the other two papers)*
*Note: If you are a first-semester transfer student you are not required to include a second 750+ word paper, but it is strongly recommended. All students are required to submit a reflection letter, a 1250+ word paper from the Intermediate Seminar, and a 750+ word paper from any UMB course.
Before selecting papers for your portfolio, it’s important to know how your writing will be evaluated. Since the criteria used to evaluate your work in your classes may differ from the EWRAP scoring criteria, you are not advised to simply choose the papers that earned the best grades.
