About

Our laboratory is interested in understanding how poor air quality affects human health. We are most interested in particulate matter (PM) and its chemical composition, which is found everywhere across the world. Exposure to PM, worldwide, causes more than 7 million deaths, and most of these occur in the developing world. Our group is specifically interested in these exposures.

Our work includes both laboratory- and field-based research inquiries that span basic instrument development in the lab, to deployment of extensive research equipment packages to the far corners of the world. We collaborate across our group, and with dozens of colleagues at other institutions. Our team is known for excellence in measurement quality, application of results to inform and interact with real-world problems, and resolving real world solutions to address air quality and public health.
