Michael Gould studied Geography (BA UMass Amherst ’86, PhD University of Buffalo ’94) with work experience in between as a programmer and GIS analyst at Harvard University and a consulting firm in South Carolina. In 1991 he moved to Spain and has been teaching GIS as visiting professor and (since 1997) tenured professor at Universitat Jaume I near Valencia. In 2009 he joined Esri Inc. and is currently a Global Education Manager, working on a variety of capacity-development projects with Esri’s 80-plus offices and more than 10,000 universities, ministries, and related organizations around the world. Over the past decade he has visited and spoken at about 400 universities.
