Within this portfolio, you will find a surplus of the work I have done throughout the year in Honors Physics. The purpose of this portfolio is to show growth throughout the year in my knowledge of physics. The contents of these pages include the general science skills and how I demonstrated understanding. This may include text, photographs, videos, and diagrams. Throughout this past year, I have worked to improve on scientific investigation and experimentation. This skill focuses on research and drawing conclusions. Not only did I put a lot of focus on this skill throughout physics, but I believe this is the skill that I improved the most on. This year has challenged me in many ways. Even though I was pushed academically, I think that some of my skills improved greatly. Within the skill I can investigate, I improved on drawing conclusions from the research that I gathered and thinking of questions that could drive further inquiry. However, there were some skills that I did not improve on as greatly as I hoped I would. In the future, I would like to continue to work on growth in modeling nature and designing solutions, specifically writing and running code simulations. Even though I learned how to do this skill this past school year, I wish that I could have put more focus and time into really understanding how to write code efficiently. Another skill that I would like to expand on is contributing productively to group discussions, which can be found under I can collaborate. I was a very quiet student in the classroom this past year, quieter than usual. This was possibly because I was a new student this year and did not have any friends in the beginning. As the year went on, I began to converse more with my teacher and classmates, but still did not speak up in class. This is a skill that I not only need to improve on in the classroom, but also in life.
Even though this is probably the assignment that challenged me the most, it's the one that I learned the most from. You can look here under GSS.D1 to find the work on this lab report.
These equations will be valuable in the future for coding and solving mathematical problems. The notes and a further description of these equations can be found here under GSS.A5.
This was a project that I enjoyed, but it was challenging. The construction of the bridge itself was difficult and attempting to get it to hold as much weight as possible was complicated. Nevertheless, our group completed it with a smile on our faces and proud of what we accomplished. You can view a picture and description of the constuction of this bridge here under GSS.B1.
