Introduction

History

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Culture Collection Center (UKMCC) was officially established in 2017 and registered with the World Data Center for Microorganisms (WDCM) with the acronym UKMCC. In the early stages, UKMCC was established under the School of Bioscience and Biotechnology and subsequently placed under the Muzium Sejarah Alam, Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Efforts to collect and preserve the culture of microorganism was led by Prof. Dr. Sanusi Janggi with Prof. Mohamed Omar and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fauzi Daud began in 1982 through the Simpanan Kultur Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (SKUKUKM) entity. However, the collection does not have a specialized laboratory and relies on the researchers' laboratory. Now, the laboratory operates at UKMCC Culture Collection laboratory, Bangunan Biologi with adequate equipment for the preservation of culture collection.
