Dr. Johari Jalinas has held the position of Senior Lecturer since 2018 in the Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology within the Faculty of Science and Technology at UKM. His doctoral degree was obtained from Universidad de Alicante in Valencia, Spain in 2016, with a specialization in insect pest management utilizing biological control agents (Entomopathogenic Fungi). He has used techniques such as the detection and monitoring of invasive species of red palm weevils by using acoustic methods and GIS. He also studied the behavior of insect pests toward Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
Currently, he serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology (JSBB) at FST UKM. Additionally, he holds the position of Research Fellow at the Centre for Insect Systematics (CIS UKM) and the Fraser Hill Research Centre (PPBF UKM), both affiliated with FST Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
He is a lifelong member of the Entomological Society of Malaysia (ENTOMA) and serves as the head of the Laboratory of Applied Entomology at the Centre for Insect Systematics FST UKM.
