Location
MultiSmart School of Gels will be held at Universitat Jaume I (Av. Sos Baynat, s/n) in Castelló de la Plana.
Castelló de la Plana is a Mediterranean-style city in eastern Spain, with wide-ranging cultural and gastronomic activities, and beautiful sand-covered beaches.
The city, with almost 200,000 inhabitants, is the capital of the province of Castellón. Located 70 km north of Valencia, it is well-communicated by train with Valencia, Barcelona and Madrid.
The campus of Universitat Jaume I is 25 minutes walking distance from the city center.
A tramway connects the University with the city center and also the port (the maritime district of Castelló, El Grau). The maritime district is the gateway to the sea and is located just four kilometers from the city center. Bus lines 12 and 15 also connect the city center with the University.

How to arrive
The most convenient way to get to Castellón from abroad is by plane to Valencia (70 km). Other options are to arrive by plane to Barcelona (285 km) or Madrid (415 km). Then, there are train connections to Castellón. The railway system in Spain is run by the company RENFE (https://www.renfe.com/es/en).
VALENCIA
Valencia's airport is located at Manises, about 8 km from Valencia. Flights from the main cities of Spain and Europe land there. Moreover, Valencia has connecting flights via Madrid and Barcelona with destinations all over the world.
To arrive at Valencia railway station (ESTACIÓ DEL NORD, also called VALENCIA NORD), take a taxi or the subway (metro):
By metro. Take metro lines 3 or 5 to reach Valencia Nord (metro station called "Xativa"). It takes around 25 minutes and costs around 4 €.
By taxi. A taxi from the airport to Valencia Nord takes around 25 minutes and costs 20-25 €.
Once at Valencia Nord, take a local train (called Cercanías) to Castellón (every half hour). There are several automatic machines in the hall where you can buy your ticket. It takes around 1 hour to reach Castellón railway station and costs 5 €.
A direct taxi from Valencia's airport to Castellón is also possible. It takes around 50 minutes, but the cost is around 120€.
CASTELLÓ AIRPORT
Castelló has a small airport 20 km away, with very limited number of flights. However, it can be a good option for a connexion via Madrid or London-Stansted. Check available routes here.
BARCELONA
All flights arrive at Barcelona International Airport (Terminal 1 or Terminal 2). When you arrive at Barcelona Airport, take a local train ("Cercanías"; there is only one train line, called C1) to go to the main railway station in Barcelona center (ESTACIÓ DE SANTS, also called BARCELONA SANTS). You can also take a taxi but the travel duration highly depends on the traffic situation (at least 15-20 minutes, costs around 30 euros).
You can access the Airport train station (close to Terminal 2) by following the RENFE train signs and walking through an elevated bridge that you'll see as soon as you walk out the Terminal 2. Trains depart every 30 minutes from 6:13 am to 11:40 pm, and it takes 25 minutes from the Airport to Barcelona Sants (costs around 3 €). From Barcelona Sants, take an express train to go directly to Castellón. Express trains to Castellón depart every two hours approximately.
MADRID
All flights arrive at Barajas International Airport. The most convenient trip is Madrid-Valencia-Castellón by train from the railway station "Madrid-Puerta Atocha". To arrive at this railway station you can take a taxi or the metro:
By Metro. Line 8 (pink line - Madrid underground map) takes you to the City Centre (Nuevos Ministerios Station) from the airport. Then, you must change (at least twice) to arrive at the railway station (in Atocha Renfe, Line 1). It takes around 50 minutes and costs around 5 euros.
By taxi. One way trip from Madrid Barajas Airport to the city center takes 20 minutes and costs around 25-35 euros.
From Madrid (PUERTA ATOCHA Station) there are only two daily trains that go directly to Castellón. However, there are more frequent connections to Valencia (departing from Madrid-CHAMARTIN Station). From Valencia, you can take a local train to Castellón (every half hour).
Next to Castelló railway station (in Paseo de Morella), there is a TRAM (T1) that goes every 10 min to Universitat Jaume I. If you are accommodated in the city center, you can take the TRAM or the bus (lines 12 and 15), or just have a pleasant walk to UJI (25-30 min).
