A place for people to free themselves from any undesired situations.
FASA 2022 is a continuation from the previous annual exhibition organized by UiTM's Photo Media & Creative Department. This exhibition aims to cultivate the culture of producing artwork and creative writing among the academics. The participation FASA 2022 is overwhelming where it is joined by 38 artists from the academic field not only from UiTM, but also from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, University of Selangor (UNISEL), Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) of Brunei, Universitas Esa Unggul and also the Indonesian Art Institute of Surakarta, Indonesia. Apart from establishing international relations among universities, this exhibition also provides opportunities and creates a collaborative network between the industry and academia in promoting the Photography Program offered by the Faculty of Art and Design, UiTM at the global level.
This exhibition features the emotional expressions of the artists in the face of unexpected situations through photographic works. Perceptions of reality, hopes, dreams, beliefs, and values as alternative mediums that contain visual understanding and processing of ideas in tandem with the reflection of identity variations of all artists comprising a diverse spectrum of genres. The interpretation of each image is something abstract and amorphous, uniquely grounded in technical exploration and extensive creativity in producing a diverse visual adventure experience.
Every human being has their challenging circumstances and will try to find a way to get out of those situations. When individuals escape from an unwanted environment, they find solace in their minds and the area they imagine. This year’s theme: ‘Escape Room’ can be a place, object, or situation inspired as a space to spark creativity. It is not necessarily limited to a single perspective. Instead, it embraces a range of viewpoints that the artist will portray based on their own experience, skills, and creativity. It also considers the concepts of emotion and feeling, investigation and experimentation, communication, and relationships as the starting points for the procedures to go through when creating the artwork.
It is hoped that the FASA 2022 Exhibition will be a meaningful exposure the public and UiTM students themselves especially on the importance of photography, considering the fact that photography is still plays an important documentation, reference, and appreciation medium for our future generations. It is also hoped that the lecturers are able to prove that teaching does not only take place in formal settings, yet it can be adapted in open and flexible situations where the impacts can be successfully conveyed to students and the public.
