DESCRIPTION
PPA HOUSE
A 358 m² single-storey residence located in Trofa, Portugal, designed by NOARQ architecture studio with main architects José Carlos Nunes de Oliveira and Gaia Ferraris. The house is built on a polygonal plot of land located on a street corner with an elevation of approximately ±1 meter from the road surface. The design of this house carries a minimalist and contextual approach, which adapts to the conditions of the location.
The main materials used include exposed concrete, glass, and wooden elements, which combine to create a solid yet warm impression. The layout of the house is divided into three zones: an open social area facing southwest, a more closed private zone in the north, and a service area including a carport on the south side. An inner courtyard becomes the center of circulation and a source of natural light, strengthening the relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
The design strategy of PPA House emphasizes the principles of passive architecture, energy efficiency, and sustainability. The exterior walls use the ETICS insulation system, the interior floors are equipped with heating, and the exterior paving is made of local granite. This house is an example of how modern architecture can blend with location, climate, and daily activities in harmony.
