Abstract:
The article presents information about musical audio collections concentrated in the archival collections of the Ukrainian Free University in Munich. Digitization of the originals of the magnetic tapes was started by scientists of the Prykarpattia National University named after V. Stefanyka, professors M. Cherepanyn and V. Dutchak. In the course of the first stage of work, approx. 200 recordings, which are systematized according to the principle of themes of music genres. The continuation of the cataloging, digitization and professional systematization of the music audio archive of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences will take place at the next stage of scientific research.
An important direction of the educational and scientific activity of UVU since its foundation was the multiplication and preservation of Ukrainian documentary and manuscript sources, the creation of archival collections and collections in the funds of the educational institution. The newly formed fundamental and library archival collections are an integral part of the historical and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people. They arose as a result of many years of activity of Ukrainian socio-political, scientific, cultural, educational and religious centers in different countries of the world.
Being on an internship at UVU in 2022 (according to the internship schedule of the department), in addition to working on the planned topic «Specifics of the European educational process in the context of modern mobility and international relations», the issue of unexplored archival materials aroused personal interest. On this occasion, there was a meeting and substantive conversation with the Archivist of the University of Warsaw Fr. Viktor Holovach, the result of which was an introduction to the unique materials of the archive. As noted by Fr. Viktor, among the large collection of documents concentrated at UVU, the basis of the modern archive is post-war materials, most of which require scientific processing.
The materials of the archive are divided into certain groups, namely: archives of Ukrainian organizations in exile in Germany, personal archives of Ukrainian figures, thematic collections. In addition to the aforementioned, the archive of UVU includes a considerable number of slides, film and photo materials, and most of all – musical, literary and socio-political audio recordings, voiced by operators and journalists of the Ukrainian editorial office of Radio Liberty in the 50s-90s of the last century – during the period of total ban on his listening by the repressive Soviet regime.
Keywords: music audio recordings, archive of the Ukrainian Free University, Ukrainian diaspora, digitization, professional systematization.
