Abstract:
The article presents the results of a pedagogical study on the teaching of the course Human Anatomy and Physiology to undergraduate students majoring in Natural Sciences in multilingual academic groups at Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education. The relevance of the study stems from the need to ensure high-quality professional training in a multilingual educational environment, where students demonstrate different levels of proficiency in the languages used for instruction. The aim of the study was to identify the pedagogical features of teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology in multilingual academic groups, determine the main learning difficulties encountered by students, and substantiate methodological approaches aimed at improving the effectiveness of the educational process. The study was conducted using an anonymous questionnaire completed by 17 undergraduate students majoring in Natural Sciences. The survey examined students’ proficiency in Ukrainian, Hungarian and English, their language preferences in the learning process, difficulties encountered while studying the course, the use of educational resources, and their evaluation of the organisation of the educational process. The collected data were analysed using descriptive statistical methods and pedagogical analysis. The findings indicate that successful learning largely depends on adapting teaching methods to students’ linguistic backgrounds. The most effective instructional approaches included bilingual explanation of complex topics, visualisation of anatomical structures, the use of anatomical models, and systematic feedback from students. The findings may contribute to improving the methodology of teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology, as well as other Natural Science disciplines, in higher education institutions operating in multilingual educational environments.
